Rachel Georgiou

Senior Research Fellow

Profile

Rachel is a Senior Research Fellow based within the Stroke Research Group and Senior Development Manager for the Lancashire Research Institute for Global Health and Wellbeing at the University of Central Lancashire. She has a special interest in workforce and organisational development, capacity building, stroke prevention and global challenges research. Her interest and involvement in stroke research arose from her experience as a registered nurse working in acute medicine, neurology, rehabilitation and palliative care. She holds degrees in Psychology, Health Psychology and Clinical Leadership.  She has been involved in clinical research for over 25 years having worked initially in stroke and brain injury research as a research nurse and manager, before taking up more senior strategic research roles within research and innovation management in Higher Education Institutes and NHS organisations.  She returned to a stroke research focussed role in 2016 joining Prof Dame Caroline Watkins team. Rachel is a member of the Steering Group and Project Management Group. She is the lead for public and patient involvement and focus group and contributes heavily to the project’s research governance.
